Donna Blackard – acrylic on canvas Donna’s acrylic paintings reflect the elements of nature by focusing on the distortion that occurs between earth and sky and its influence on our surroundings. She utilizes raw pigments, organic textures and metal leafing to convey this transition of nature. The complexities of emotional and social experiences further enrich Donna’s canvas through the layers of paint, texture, glaze, and varnish. These resulting layers and textures, in both physical and emotional dimensions, focus the viewer to see parts of our society that are sometimes forgotten. A native of Augusta, Georgia, Donna’s artist style and approach grew from a previous career as manager of visual merchandising. She is a frequently commissioned decorative artist whose work can be seen at Autozone Park and St. Mary’s Cathedral in Memphis as well as Colleton River Community Clubhouse in Hilton Head Island. She now resides in Memphis.
